How to Safely Pack Your Car

Before you venture out for your next summer vacation, it is a good idea to make sure that your car is safe and ready to hit the road. Part of that is knowing how to safely pack your luggage to avoid injury or balance problems with your vehicle.

You can check the load capacity for your vehicle in the owner's manual. Smaller SUVs typically have a load capacity of around 900 pounds. Keep in mind that this includes passenger weight, which means that you should not necessarily plan to pack your vehicle to the brim. You should also be aware of where you are storing the heaviest items. They should stay on the floor and near the front so that you reduce the chance of a car rollover and do not put too much weight on the back tires.
