10 Step Repair Process

1. ESTIMATE:

The whole process starts by our manager discussing the claim with you. We will also ask some details on how the accident occurred to insure that we do not miss any damage that might have happened during the loss. This process can take anywhere from 10- 30 min depending on how much damaged there is.

2. INSURANCE APPROVAL:

If you are having your repair done through an insurance claim, we often have to communicate with the insurance company after the estimate to reach an agreed price. If your insurance is through one of the 11 Direct Repair Programs that we partner with this step is done right here at Cawoods. If there is no third party approval needed for your repair, then we can begin repairs right away..

3. DISASSEMBLY:

This is the actual beginning of the repair process. All of the parts that need to be removed from the vehicle are taken off. This is also when hidden damages are usually discovered and added to the estimate. In some cases this requires further approval from the insurance company, or additional parts to be ordered.

4. ORDER PARTS:

Our parts department places the order for the parts for your vehicle. Most parts arrive within 2-3 working days. If in the event of a particular part being obsolete or on backorder, you are notified right away.

5. STRUCTURAL REPAIR:

Depending on the type of damage done to the vehicle, it may need to have frame repair completed first. This is the step where our ASE and I-CAR certified technicians, return the unitized body to its factory specifications. Our shop utilizes a Velocity laser measuring system that ensures your vehicle is back to factory specifications.

6. BODY REPAIR:

Once the parts are in, and the frame repair is complete the vehicle is finally ready for sheet metal repair. Our technicians use years of experience and training to perform these repairs with the latest techniques in the industry.

7. PAINT:

Once the Body Technician has turned the vehicle over to the paint department , the paint preparation process begins. All of the panels that are to be painted are sanded, treated, and taped off to ensure the cleanest and most professional paint job once the vehicle is in the paint booth. The actual paint process involves multiple steps as the painter matches the color, primes and seals the panel, applies multiple base coats, and finishes by clear coating the entire panel. Vehicles are painted in a Devilbiss down draft paint booth and then baked to ensure a factory like finish and durability. We use PPG Envirobase paint that is eco friendly.

8. REASSEMBLY:

At this point all of the finishing touches are put on the vehicle. Doors are put together after paint, moldings and trim are replaced, and the technician begins checking the vehicle's systems to make sure they are all functioning properly.

9. DETAIL/CLEAN-UP:

After all the repairs and painting have been completed your vehicle will be detailed by our detail department to clean any dust that accumulated during the repair process. This detail includes buffing any panels that were painted, an exterior wash, and vacuuming the interior. This is also the step where your estimator will take the vehicle for a final test drive as part of our Quality Inspection performed at the end of every repair.

10. DELIVERY:

Once your vehicle is complete and has been inspected by management our office staff will contact you to arrange delivery. This is the last step in the repair process. When you arrive to pick up your vehicle our staff will review the repairs with you, explain your final paperwork, and collect any balance owed. Finally, you drive home in a vehicle returned to pre-loss condition.
